Have you ever heard of Hilda? She was a pin-up girl painted by Duane Bryers between 1957 and 1970. She has been experiencing a bit of a revival lately. There is something so joyful and free about her. And as an unexpected bonus, she is a bit of a big girl and a ginger, too! How can you not love her? Here are a few of my favorites, but there are dozens more.
This one reminds me of a racy Anne of Green Gables. Remember when she walked across the roof and fell?
Don't they make you smile?

Hide yo' kids
Ever wonder what is most appropriate to wear when you are jetting around the world and adopting adorable foreign toddlers? It keeps me up at night sometimes. I mean, if it's before labor day here, but you're going to be south of the equator, can you still wear white? What about your shoes and bag, can they be the same color or do Ecuadorians think that's too matchy-matchy?
Anyway, I was flipping through the latest Garnet Hill catalog this afternoon and came across the Jolie jersey dress, accompanied by this hilarious picture. I'm sure that it's a total coincidence that the dress is named Jolie and the model seems to be blithely abducting that cute little girl. The little girls is like, "Who is this blond bitch? I thought I was going to meet Brad Pitt."
Llama in the background: "Girl puh-lease. Leg warmers and calf-high boots?"

What I Love About Me
Marie Claire is one of the better fashion magazines. They actually have decent articles, an even one whole page every month about plus sized fashion called Big Girl in a Skinny World. Seriously, though, the whole damn magazine should be called Skinny Girl in a Big World because nobody can actually wear the crap in their editorials. Eh, that's a whole other rant for another day.
So, this month they published their "Winners" of a nationwide contest. They asked women across the country to name "What I love about me." Thinking this would be a great woman-positive article, I dug in.
I'm going to spare you the full ten, but this is a sampling of what I got:
"I'm always switching up my style, but my pillowy lips are my best accessory."

I'm going to spare you the full ten, but this is a sampling of what I got:
"I'm always switching up my style, but my pillowy lips are my best accessory."
"I love how my cute dimples brighten up my whole face."
"Even though my nose is crooked, it's perfect because it reminds me of my dad."
"Having porcelain skin sets me apart from the tan-obsessed crowd."
"My Brazilian accent is an amazing ice-breaker — people are constantly trying to figure out where I'm from."
So, when you ask women across the country what they like about themselves, and then pull the very best ten this is what you get? Nine of them were about appearance. Seriously? The thing you like best about yourself is that you're white or that you have a witchy nose? Nobody is kind or compassionate or freaky-good at math?
I love how they published the most shallow, vapid answers possible to a question that probably got some really interesting answers. Thanks for reinforcing the idea that the most important thing about women is the way they look, Marie Claire!
Oh, and here's the photo of Snow White. Congratulations on being Caucasian, bitch!

"Cheap, Fast and Easy."
Yeah, the package actually says "Cheap, fast & easy." Why not "Hot, wet and salty?" Or "Tacky, Nasty and Fake?" At least I hope it's fake. You never know though, translation is a scary thing. Don't believe me? Check out Engrish Funny to waste some brain cells.

Trash-n-Fashion
I know I drink too much Diet Coke. Now I have plan for all of those cans sitting in my garage waiting to be recycled. I would look smashing in this, no?
Or how about this little party dress made out of pop can tabs and trash bags? It was made by an eighteen-year old fashion student named Casey Hansel.
What about this fanciness? No, it's not a Belle's dress from the 1984 Junior prom. It's a gown made from peanut m&m wrappers. Brillz!
This last one is made from shredded issues of Vogue. I know I get the urge to rip up Vogue every once in a while. Now there is a good reason to do it!

There's an app for that.
Uhhhh... Whatever lets you and sleep at night, honey. Next time you and your girls should use some holographic condoms or a digital diaphragm or something.
Pin-Up Boys
Well, hi there! Yes, yes it has been a while. But I have a whole backlog of the fabulous and the fabulously offensive to blog about. Let's get started with these little beauties.
I love me some pin-up girls, but I have never seen any pin-up boys. It turns out there is a reason you never see pin-up boys. Sorry, fellas, it's just not your thing.
Work that drill, girl! Va-va-voom!
How cute is he? I know my girl Angela is going to like this one.
This is my fave. If this bearded beauty isn't bringing sexy back, nobody is.
Thanks to Jeremiah for sharing these on Facebook!
